New Zealand Powerball Joy
The winning ticket was purchased from Greerton Lotto in the city of Tauranga and matched the numbers 2, 14, 15, 21, 23, 32 and the Powerball 4. The victor was one of 240,786 prize winners in both draws on Saturday 2nd December, however, no contact has yet been made, leading to appeals from New Zealand Lotto officials.
This is the third time in the space of four draws that the game’s jackpot has been won by players from the North Island, following the success enjoyed by two players in the draw on Wednesday 22nd November. The ticket holders, from the towns of Warkworth and Greytown, enjoyed the eleventh month elation after matching all six numbers and the Powerball to end a run of 18 consecutive rollovers and secure a share of a $38 million windfall, the second largest prize in the lottery’s history.
The North Island’s lucky streak continued as a player from the city of Hastings scooped a share of the New Zealand Lotto jackpot. As the Powerball top prize was claimed, the player, who purchased their entry from Mahora Four Square, was forced to share their reward, resulting in a payout of $500,000.
The good fortune of the southern hemisphere continued as a trio of Australian Saturday Lotto players shared a jackpot of over AUS$4 million. The three ticket holders correctly matched the numbers 8, 14, 16, 23, 25 and 44 to secure a $1.3 million slice of the satisfying seven-figure sum.
