Spagnuolo Uses Power Play Option
The winning numbers in the Powerball draw on Saturday 19th May were 3, 6, 9, 17 and 56, plus the Powerball 25 and Power Play 3. The $315 million jackpot was won by a ticket holder in New Jersey, and Spagnuolo was one of 35 ticket holders to match four numbers and the Powerball to take home $50,000. He bought his winning ticket at Gorman’s Food Market on North Grand River Avenue in Lansing, Michigan, opting to use the Power Play option, which increased his winnings to $150,000.
He said: “I checked my ticket online and saw I won $150,000, but I didn’t believe it. I signed the ticket just in case I had a winner, and yelled for my son to come check my ticket. Once I realized it was real, I started thinking about how to spend it. Winning means I can go to the Vietnam Veterans Association Reunion in North Carolina this September.”
Spagnuolo also plans to unwind by camping and fishing, as well as putting some of his six-figure winnings towards paying the bills. The winner went on to say: “I’m still giddy and in the clouds about winning! My wife passed away recently, and I know she was looking out for me on this.”
What is Power Play?
Power Play is an additional feature that Powerball players can add to their ticket for an extra $1, available in all participating states and jurisdictions apart from California. The value of non-jackpot prizes can increase by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x multipliers, depending on the Power Play number drawn. A 10x multiplier is also available when the advertised jackpot is valued at $150 million or less.
