South Africa Daily Lotto Game Is Launched

A new lottery game has launched in South Africa, giving players the chance to win big prizes every single day. The jackpot must be won in every Daily Lotto draw, so find out more here about the latest game launched by Ithuba, South Africa’s official lottery operator.

How to Play Ithuba’s Newest Offering

You can enter by picking five numbers between 1 and 36 from any licensed retailer throughout South Africa, or online from various locations around the world. Draws are held at 21:00 South Africa Standard Time (SAST), and tickets cost just R3 per line. You can enter up to ten consecutive draws in advance by marking the Multi-Draw option on your playslip. If you enter after the cut-off time of 20:30 SAST, your ticket will be eligible for the draw the following day.

The jackpot can be won by matching all five numbers. There are three other prize tiers on offer for matching two, three or four numbers. The jackpot has to be won in every draw so, if no one matches all five numbers, the prize money is rolled down to the next winning tier. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 7.6, considerably better than other South African lotteries. Your chance of winning in Lotto are 1 in 38, and 1 in 18 in PowerBall, so there is more of a chance of getting a return on your entry in Daily Lotto.

“Daily Lotto Is Unique From Our Other Games”

Since the lottery’s launch, there have been two draws held with over 55,000 winners crowned. The prizes are pari-mutuel, which means the prize amounts can vary from draw to draw depending on how many tickets are sold and the number of winners. For example, the three prize tiers beneath the jackpot were worth R4.50, R17 and R2,006 in the first draw. Matching the same amount of numbers the following day won prizes of R4.80, R18.30 or R1,161, so there is plenty for ticket holders to play for seven days a week.

Khensani Mabuza, Ithuba’s executive corporate relations executive, expressed her delight at the launch of Daily Lotto, which joins the likes of Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and PowerBall as one of the games they offer. Mabuza said: “Daily Lotto is unique from our other games in many ways. With this game there is no jackpot rollover, every cent of the jackpot prize will be won and when there is no jackpot winner, the jackpot amount will roll down into the next prize division and be shared among all players matching 4 numbers.

“There are four prizes for matching 2, 3, 4 or 5 numbers correctly. The estimated jackpots for Daily Lotto start from R100,000 and will vary depending on player participation.”
