Why Is Lotto America Coming Back?
The game has been revived after the Multi-State Lottery Association decided to bring Hot Lotto to an end following the draw on Saturday 28th October. The MUSL felt that Hot Lotto’s ‘lifespan’ had come run its course and it was time to freshen up the offering of draw games.
When Will Lotto America Start?
Tickets for the new Lotto America are set to go on sale on 12th November 2017, with draws to take place every Wednesday and Saturday.
How Will The New Lotto America Be Played?
Lotto America was previously played from 1988 to 1992, before being replaced by Powerball. The new version will be different and will require players to select five main numbers from 1 to 52, plus an additional Star Ball number from 1 to 10.
How Much Will Lotto America Cost?
It is set to cost $1 per ticket. For an additional $1, players can then add the All Star Bonus Number option, which will multiply non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five depending on which number is drawn on the night.
What Prizes Can Be Won?
There will be nine prize tiers in the new Lotto America. Players can win $2 just by matching the Star Ball, and the value of prizes increases as you match more numbers. You win the jackpot by matching all five main numbers plus the Star Ball. The jackpot is proposed to start at $2 million, but will roll over and grow each time it is not won.
Which States Will Play Lotto America?
Tickets are set to go on sale in the majority of states which currently play Hot Lotto - Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia. However, New Hampshire will not offer the game when it is first launched.
