Forgotten Glasses Lead to Big Lottery Win

Forgetting his glasses might have been the most profitable mistake that Bob Sabo has ever made - the Easton, Connecticut resident picked up the wrong scratchcard and netted himself $30,000. Bob wasn’t keen on waiting in line for a draw lottery ticket at the Super Stop and Shop in Fairfield, so he decided to use a vending machine to buy some scratchcards, which he had never done before.

As it turned out, his error meant that he was in the right place at the right time, as he grabbed a five-figure sum on a game called 30x Cash, which offers several top prizes of $30,000 and lesser prizes between $30 and $10,000.

Sabo only realised that he won when he went home. “I bought the winning ticket by accident,” he said when he spoke to lottery officials. “ I mean to buy two $20 tickets, but I didn’t have my glasses on. Instead, I bought a 30x Cash ticket for $30 by mistake, which left me with $10 to buy another ticket. I couldn’t believe it - we won $30,000. Winning the way we did was a very freaky thing!”

Fun instant win games like the one Bob Sabo played aren’t the only ones offered by the Connecticut Lottery. Residents of the Constitution State can also buy tickets for draw games such as Lotto!, Mega Millions, Powerball and Lucky for Life. If you’re not driving to the shop to buy tickets, you may want to leave your glasses at home and see what happens!
