Alberta Player Wins CA$50 Million Lotto Max Jackpot

A Lotto Max player from Alberta struck lucky in the latest draw on Friday 11th November after matching all seven main numbers to win the jackpot of CA$50 million. The last time that a single ticket holder landed a bigger prize was back on 12th August, when a participant from Saskatchewan picked up CA$60 million.

The numbers drawn on Friday were 8, 14, 18, 20, 24, 39 and 46 with Bonus Ball 23, sparking celebrations in one small corner of Alberta. While the Western Canada Lottery Corporation did not immediately disclose details of where the all-important ticket was purchased, the villagers of Irma have been quick to claim the glory and tell local press that one of the community’s 500 residents was the big winner.

“It's such a small amount of people if one person hears it, everyone hears it. You always think it's always people in cities winning it, bigger places, especially out east,”  Irma resident John Budd told CTV Edmonton. “But to have such a big amount of money won in such a small community - it’s going to make a huge impact.”

There was more success for Alberta in the second winning tier, as another player matched six of the main Lotto Max numbers plus the Bonus Ball to net CA$1.2 million. Over 1.2 million other ticket holders won prizes in the draw, while the jackpot for the next game on Friday will stand at CA$15 million.

Lotto Max offers gigantic jackpots, plus more opportunities to win CA$1 million in the MAXMILLIONS game when the top prize goes past CA$50 million. Find out more about Lotto Max ahead of Friday’s draw, with tickets available now via authorised retailers and online.
