Huge South Africa Powerball Plus Prize Set To Expire

A South Africa Powerball player from the province of Kwazulu-Natal is set to miss out on a life-changing prize unless they come forward quickly, with last-ditch appeals being made to try and track down the winner of a R19.2 million jackpot.

The gigantic Powerball Plus prize was up for grabs on Friday 29th July 2016, and one lucky ticket matched the numbers 1, 9, 21, 20, 35 and Powerball 8. The ticket was bought at the Pie Train shop in Isipingo, Durban, and the player had one year from the date of the draw to get in touch with lottery officials and claim the prize.

However, there has still been no word from the winner and Saturday’s deadline is now rapidly approaching, with South African National Lottery operator Ithuba Holdings urging players to check for any old tickets.

“In case the winnings are not claimed this coming Saturday, the R19.2 million will be forfeited and be retained by the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund,” said the operator in a statement. “Winners have one year to claim their winnings in accordance with the National Lottery terms and conditions.”

South Africa Powerball Plus is a supplementary game to Powerball and gives players another chance to win big. The jackpot rolls over when it is not won, just like in Powerball, and can reach colossal amounts. The current Powerball Plus jackpot is R1.2 million after someone won on Tuesday, while the top prize in Powerball is R40 million. Fans of the game can choose numbers online or visit authorised retailers in South Africa.
