Georgia Player Bags $83M Mega Millions Jackpot

A Mega Millions player in Georgia has beaten the odds to scoop the jackpot prize of $83 million. Mega Millions players will know that the odds of hitting the jackpot are long, but they’re clearly not impossible: Friday, November 10th’s Mega Millions jackpot has been won by a single player who matched all six numbers.

The winning numbers in the dramatic drawing were 31, 32, 49, 55 and 58, plus the gold Mega Ball 15. Two other Mega Millions players — one in Illinois, the other in New York  — also picked up prizes of $1 million each by matching five numbers.

Friday’s winning ticket, which is reported to have been purchased at the White Water Chevron on South Cobb Parkway in Marietta, just north of Atlanta, entitles the anonymous player to the truly life-changing sum of $83 million (or $50.8 million in cash). It is the first time the Mega Millions jackpot has been won since October 11th, when a single player in Texas scooped $49 million.

With the mammoth prize due to be claimed any day now, the Mega Millions jackpot will be reset to a not-unsubstantial $15 million. If you’re eyeing a slightly larger sum, however, you should know that the Powerball jackpot currently stands at an eye-popping $359 million — more than four times last week’s Mega Millions jackpot and the fourth largest prize offered on the game this year. You can play Powerball online around the world or visit authorised retailers in any of the participating jurisdictions.
