EuroMillions Jackpot Won For Second Consecutive Draw

A magnificent winning run for EuroMillions players continued on Tuesday night as a Portuguese player matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to land €17 million. The jackpot has now been won twice in a row, as well as three times out of the last four.

The winning numbers last night were 14, 22, 26, 42 and 50 with Lucky Stars 8 and 10. On another great night across Europe, over 1.2 million prizes were won altogether, including two ticket holders who matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star to scoop €369,210 each.

An Irish participant had previously snagged Friday’s jackpot of €28.9 million, becoming the country’s second winner of a top prize in 2017. Irish National Lottery officials have now confirmed that the winner has been in contact, revealing that the all-important ticket was sold at the Garryduff XL Store on Pound Road in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

“They have 90 days to come in and collect their prize, so they are taking a little bit of time to get  their own professional advice and then they will come in and see us,” Irish National Lottery CEO Dermot Griffin said on Newstalk Breakfast. “The money has to be collected from the other EuroMillions countries, so it is going to take until Thursday for the money to be deposited in our bank account, and we can pay it out any time after that.”

Castlebar’s latest success marks the second time that a winning EuroMillions ticket has been sold in Mayo’s county town. Back in April 2014, a jackpot of €15 million was claimed by a player who bought their entry in Staunton’s Costcutter Express.

It has been a stunning start to the summer for EuroMillions players, after a UK participant also won £87.5 million in the Superdraw on Friday 30th June. The UK win came just a few weeks after a ticket holder from Belgium landed the biggest prize of the year, €134.8 million, on Friday 2nd June.

EuroMillions fans across the nine participating countries will now be looking forward to trying to extend the winning feeling this Friday, when a jackpot of €17 million will once again be on offer. Tickets are available from authorised retailers, while it is also possible to choose numbers online.
