Why September is a Lucky Month for EuroMillions Players

It may signal the end of the glorious summer months, but September is a time of the year that EuroMillions fans across the continent cherish dearly. But why is the ninth month looked upon with such fondness?

Why September is a Lucky Month for EuroMillions Players

Why September?

Despite the current jackpot increasing in size following Tuesday night’s draw, September has traditionally been a month of prosperity for EuroMillions players. Of the 374 top prizes to be won since the lottery began in February 2004, 40 have been landed in September, with the month rivalled only by January (39).

As if that wasn’t enough reason to love the current month, the 30th of September is the day which has produced most jackpot winners, with eight ticket holders celebrating success. However, the bad news is that you will have to wait until 2022 to play EuroMillions on this date again.

September also comes up trumps when the number of jackpot winners in a specific month is taken into consideration. September 2016 managed to produce seven winners of the pan-European game’s top prize, including five ticket holders who secured a share of £19.7 million on Friday 2nd September. This figure ably assisted the date’s journey to joint second in terms of luckiness, just behind the 30th.

Superdraw September

September’s dominance in the jackpot stakes could be down to the fact that three Superdraws have been held during the month. Started in 2007, Superdraws offer a guaranteed nine-figure jackpot and can be scheduled at random points throughout the year. The boosted prize usually encourages greater participation which, in turn, means it is more likely there will be a winner.

So far, 2017 has witnessed two of these special events, the latest of which took place on Friday 15th September. Add this to the duo of Superdraws that had taken place in the September of 2009 and 2012, both of which were claimed at the first time of asking, and it’s easy to see why the month is popular in all nine participating countries.

Be a September Jackpot Winner

Of course, the EuroMillions jackpot can be claimed at any point during the year, but if you would like to add your name to the list of September jackpot winners, this Friday is your final chance before the dawning of a new month. So, if you would like to pick up a cheque for £155 million (€177 million), you can select your numbers online or play through any authorised retailer. Best of luck!
