The couple have established a charitable trust and donated millions of pounds to community projects but their contribution to the Scottish independence campaign has received most attention. The Euromillions winners describe themselves as "lifelong supporters of independence'' and, according to Electoral Commission figures, have given £5.5 million to the SNP and Yes Scotland campaign since their record-breaking win. The Weirs are by far and away the biggest lottery winners to hail from Scotland, but the Scots have had their fair share of success over the years.
