New South Wales Players Split Huge Australia Powerball Jackpot

New South Wales is celebrating a double success after two tickets matched the winning numbers in one of the biggest Powerball draws of the year. A huge First Division prize of $30 million was up for grabs after four draws without a winner, and the astronomical sum was split between a 25-member syndicate from Newcastle and a single player from Cabramatta.

The winning numbers for the draw on Thursday 15th June were 6, 23, 24, 28, 31 and 38 with Powerball 12. Over 550,000 participants picked up prizes, and the winners have quickly come forward to collect their money. The lucky syndicate is run by the Newcastle City Newsagency, and all 25 members will receive a fantastic $608,146.87

Robyn Hudson, who owns the store, says many of the players have already been in to see her. She said: “We put this syndicate on whenever the jackpot goes over $10 million and we have the same syndicate members returning each time. The syndicate members are from the local region and are aged in their 50s to 70s. Many are unregistered players so we look forward to breaking the news to them that they’ve won!”

The other winning ticket has been claimed by an anonymous ticket holder, who purchased their entry at Cabramatta East Newsagency. The lucky player’s 6-game PowerHit QuickPick not only scooped the jackpot, but also won other divisional prizes worth $441,560.35. “It’s a great win for Cabramatta,” said Thien Tran, the owner of Cabramatta East Newsagency. “Congratulations to the winner! I hope they enjoy their prize!”

Australia Powerball jackpots regularly rise to massive amounts, and there have been two occasions this year when prizes of more than $30 million have been given away. A jackpot of $55 million was won on 5th January, while a man from Western Sydney scooped $50 million on 11th May.

The Powerball jackpot will now reset to $3 million for this Thursday’s draw, giving players in Australia another chance to snap up a magnificent sum. Numbers can be chosen online or via authorised retailers in Australia.
