Will Lottery give us next sporting great

It has been announced that an extra £50 million worth of lottery funding is to be given to sports from 2012 as a legacy from the London Olympics 2012. The initiative, thought up by the new UK government is designed to improve sports in this country via UK National Lottery funding, but while great news it poses the question ‘Will the lottery give us our next sporting great?’ It’s been over 40 years since we raised the world cup and Fred Perry is all but forgotten to all but English tennis fans so will this make a difference to the sporting talent in the UK?
Who knows, but it should certainly help the health of the country and encourage more people, especially children and young adults to participate in sports in the UK. The whole plan, funded by money from your lottery tickets in the UK will be a unified sports structure focusing on good facilities and community sport.

This move has the potential to put the UK onto the sporting map of the world, an extra £50 million a year is a lot of lottery cash and it’s all made possible by you and the lottery tickets you buy every week in the hope of becoming the next millionaire.
With this new funding introduced in 2012 after the Olympic Games 2012 in London and then our bid for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, this lottery cash might just be the boost that UK sports needs to find it’s feet again and after our disappointment in the World Cup and Wimbledon, that’s the best bit of lottery news we have heard this year!
In other lottery news, the UK National Lottery did not find a winner last night and that means a £7 million rollover, something that may excite both UK and world lottery players!
