Wexford Irish Lotto Syndicate Claims €7.9 Million Prize

A syndicate from the town of Wexford have claimed an Irish Lotto jackpot worth an amazing €7.9 million. The seven-figure prize was the group’s reward for matching all six main numbers in the draw that took place on Saturday 23rd April.

Wexford Irish Lotto Syndicate Claims €7.9 Million Prize

The syndicate, comprising of four lucky players, waited over two weeks to claim the huge prize as each member came to terms with the enormity of their jackpot win. Playing as part of a syndicate seems to have paid off from a number of Irish Lotto players recently, with four jackpots in the past eight months won by groups of friends, family or colleagues who decided to play the game together.

Despite collecting almost €2 million each, the quartet, who have chosen to remain anonymous, insist that they have no plans to leave their jobs, but do plan on taking some time out to enjoy their winnings: "We are all planning a nice long sun holiday this week so we can take some time out and think carefully about what we will do with our winnings,” they told the Irish Mirror. "We are going to enjoy this win for a long time but the priority for all of us in the syndicate is to take care of our individual families."

This large windfall doesn’t seem to have discouraged one member of the fortunate foursome from believing that lightning can strike twice: "The rest of the syndicate are laughing at me because I have continued to do our usual lines in the Lotto and EuroMillions ever since," they said. Nevertheless, the lucky lottery fan finally seems to be coming to terms with the news: "It’s already been over two weeks since we hit the jackpot and the reality of it all has really only started to sink in.”

In related Irish Lotto news, reports have emerged that the Sligo winner of an €8.2 million jackpot has been in contact with the National Lottery, but the prize has not been paid out as lottery officials are yet to confirm whether or not the claim is valid. A recent report in the Irish Mirror stated that the ticket was purchased by a 14-strong stag party prior to the draw on the 5th of March, but lottery chiefs have not commented and a final ruling is yet to be reached.

This Saturday’s Irish Lotto jackpot is estimated to be worth an amazing €4.5 million, so if you fancy your chances of scooping this life-changing sum of money, tickets can be purchased online or from any authorised retailer across Ireland. Best of luck!
