Watch out for the Lottery Scammers

There is an important lesson to be learned today after an unfortunate American lady has been caught out by a well known and well publicised lottery fraud. Watch out for the Lottery Scammers and be aware that if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is. This lottery scam has been around for many years, and many people have fallen for it, here it is in its full glory so you can be more aware if approached by unscrupilous thieves.
The lady in question, from the Palm Beach area was approached in the street by two unknown men, they claimed to have won a lottery prize they could not claim as they were not in the country legally. This meant that to claim the lottery prize they would need to establish a bank account.
The man managed to convince the unlucky lady into withdrawing more than $30,000 in cash and cashier’s checks from her bank and even drove the men to her home and gave them another $8,000 in cash.
The men and the lady then drove back to the bank on the pretence of opening an account but then the men sped away from the scene taking the unfortunate lady’s money with them.
This certainly isn’t the first time a lottery scam working in this way has been reported and while people on the street are so trusting it’s sure not to be the last. Hopefully the widespread reporting of this scam will prevent others from falling for the same scam and be aware. If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!
Even if someone had won the lottery and needed assistance in this way the chances are they would know someone that would help them out and it would be very unlikely they would approach a stranger on the street. Keep your wits about you and don’t be the next person to fall for a lottery scam.
