UK National Lottery plans flawed

A few weeks ago we brought you lottery news that the UK National Lottery company were attempting to turn the lottery terminals into pay points. The move would have seen lottery players able to pay bills and buy mobile phone top-ups while they bought their lottery tickets. However, the National Lottery commission who regulate the lottery have branded the UK National Lottery plans ‘flawed’ and has refused the request by the lottery operators.
The regulator has turned down the proposition saying it would give the UK National Lottery an unmatchable advantage, which they believe may flout competition laws.

The UK National Lottery company have shown their disappointment at the ruling and have raised their concerns and put their argument over to the National Lottery Commission in the hope that they can change their minds before the final ruling on September 3rd. However, it does now look unlikely that the move will go ahead, a decision that will no doubt be celebrated by the company who currently run the PayPoint company.
