UK National Lottery jackpot query

We like to think we’re on the ball when it comes to lottery news and information, so when the UK Lotto jackpot came in dead on estimate, to the penny three draws ago we were left wondering what the odds were of that happening. It seemed a freak occurrence, especially as the chance of it happening are millions to one, yet it happened again on the next draw, and the next one, leading us to our UK National Lottery jackpot query.
In the office we pondered whether the incident might be an error, that the lottery jackpot was not actually exactly on estimate but it was just showing that way. After our query to the lottery helpline, we were informed that the jackpots showing were in fact correct and had been exactly on estimate for the last three draws.

It’s not known for sure if a new rule has come into play for the UK National Lottery, where possibly jackpots are being topped up when they don’t reach estimate. A quick look by us through the UK Lotto rules shows just one rule that covers the issue, allowing funds from previous draws to be added to a different jackpots, leaving us wondering if the National Lottery are using that rule to affect the actual jackpot amount.
So far there has been no statement from the UK National Lottery so we can only guess why this is happening, but if Lotto jackpots are being topped up then it can only mean better value for players who buy lottery tickets in the draws.
