UK EuroMillions Winners Announced as Gareth and Catherine Bull from Mansfield

EuroMillionsWe bought you news earlier in the week of a single ticket holder winning Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot and now the lucky ticket holder has come forward to claim their prize. The triple rollover EuroMillions jackpot came out at £40,627,241and it was won by Gareth and Catherine Bull. This couple are from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire and Gareth, 40 bought the ticket which was a Lucky Dip whilst sheltering from a rainstorm.

This EuroMillions win is the biggest UK win for 2012, however the seventh biggest UK EuroMillions win ever. Mr Bull is a self-employed builder and he bought the ticket whilst he was escaping from the rain which had delayed a building job he was working on.

When he first checked the EuroMillions results from Friday’s draw he knew that he had matched both of the Lucky Stars, but then he started to realised he had matched quite a few of the main numbers as well.

Mrs Bull thought it was a joke when her husband first told her so she had to go online and double check the EuroMillions results. To start with the couple thought they had won £4,000, then that quickly progressed to £40,000 however, confusion started with the amount of zeros and commas. A phone call to the lottery organisers on Saturday from the couple confirmed that they had in fact won the jackpot of £40.6 million.

The couple, along with their children, have already bought an iPad (an item which they had been saving up for) however Mr Bull plans to purchase a box at Manchester United and also a Range Rover Sport. In addition to that a holiday for the family to Disney in Florida is on the cards and Mrs Bull wants to be able to get her hair done more than twice a year.
