The Going is Good for Lottery Winners

UK National Lottery A horse racing mad family from Staffordshire has just scooped a £1.1 million National Lottery win. From now on the going is good for these lottery winners as they celebrate this fantastic win. The winning ticket was for the draw held on October 18th 2008 but it was a whole week before they realised their good fortune.

Colin and Tina Halford, from Tamworth, Staffs finally checked their ticket a week after the October 18th draw and realised they had won a staggering £1,134,695 share of the National Lottery jackpot. They were on their way out to their local pub for the evening and stopped to check their tickets, it certainly made their quiet night out into quite a raucous affair!

Mr Halford, aged 52 gave his ticket to the lady at the shop and when she checked it on the National Lottery terminal told Mr Halford he would need to ring the National Lottery.

Mrs Halford, aged 49 is still in shock and amazed that the couple were millionaires for a whole week before they realised their good fortune.

Although they haven’t yet decided what to spend their winnings on, they will be treating their family, including their aspiring jockey son Marc and will be shortly setting off on a luxury Mediterranean cruise.

It’s a great story and shows that the Big Win could happen to any one of us.

National Lottery draws are held twice weekly, every Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Tonight’s National Lottery jackpot is an estimated £2.5 million.
