When you think of big European lottery jackpots, the first thing to spring to mind is usually the Euromillions Lottery, but it seems that this week another lottery is in a race for the biggest jackpot. Tuesday’s Euromillions jackpot will be an estimated €53 million but hot on it’s heels is the SuperEnalotto, the Italian Lottery. The SuperEnalotto jackpot, Tuesday 16th August is €51.9 million, the biggest jackpot of 2011 for the Italian draw.

The last SuperEnalotto Italy draw was held on Saturday evening and the SuperEnalotto results read like so. The winning numbers in the draw were 14, 31, 37, 49, 74 and 78; the Jolly ball was 3, no one matched all the numbers to win the jackpot and there were no 5+1 winners either. The biggest winners in Saturday’s SuperEnalotto draw matched five main balls to collect €45,023.
At €51.9 million the SuperEnalotto is trailing slightly behind the Euromillions Lottery and if the Euromillions rolls over tomorrow evening, it was soar ahead. But that’s not to say we haven’t seen some big climbs in the SuperEnalotto Italy, whose jackpots are increasing at a rate of more than €1 million a week.
SuperEnalotto players are already asking just when this jackpot will be won, and as a jackpot of over €177 million was won last October on the popular Italian Lottery, one can only guess just how far the Italian Lottery draw will roll. The lottery is notoriously one of the most difficult to win in the whole world, but that’s why it also creates some of the world’s biggest lottery winners. After all someone has to win it in the end.
