South Africa Lottery owes Olympic fund

South African lottery Millions of lottery cash went into Olympic funds from all over the world to help improve the conditions for athletes and therefore improve their chances at bringing home medals in this years’ Olympic games in Beijing. Yet the South Africa Lottery still owes Olympic fund for swimmers a promised 2.8 million rand that was intended to fund the swim Olympians preparations for the Olympic games in Beijing this month.

The story was originally reported in South Africa’s Beeld newspaper this week and has shocked lottery players from South Africa, the fiasco is set to disgrace a game that is so well known for its charitable donations.

The South African Lottery has owed the Olympic fund money promised since February of last year but as yet the swimming body of the Olympians whom the cash was promised to have not received a single rand.

The Olympic games ended in Beijing on Sunday and although we cheered as our own Olympians brought home many more medals than expected unfortunately South Africa secured just one medal, ending their Olympic dream, of course the Lottery good causes fund cannot be entirely blamed for this but it does bring into disrepute the whole organisation who arranges these donations.

Since the news has been released about the South African Lottery no less than ten Lotteries Board employees have been dismissed from the Organisation and it has emerged that several other donations to charity projects appear not to have been honoured.
