Lottery officials say Ms Guzman will receive her winnings in graduated annual instalments over twenty-five years, starting with a $20,000 cheque in January and growing to $40,000 by the end of her instalments. As with most US lotteries Ms Guzman will have to pay 25% in federal taxes on her win but that is not likely to dampen her spirits after years of struggle to bring up three children alone.

The winner is hoping to clear some bills with the cash and help her daughter, Corina finish her education, although she did say that after a lifetime of living from paycheque to paycheque she is going to be cautious with her spending.

After working her whole life at Supermarket counters it’s a fantastic burst of good fortune for the lucky California Lottery player and a lovely winter-warmer for readers of this page.

We at world lottery would like to congratulate Ms Guzman and hope she enjoys her windfall.
