Powerball Lottery jackpot hits $200 million

PowerballOver the last few weeks, there has been one lottery jackpot that has caught our eye, now the rest of the world is watching too as the Powerball Lottery jackpot hits $200 million. For weeks it’s been the biggest lottery jackpot in the world, leading not just US lottery players, but also lottery players from around the world, to chase the jackpot. However, that jackpot still remains elusive and at the weekend, the Powerball Lottery jackpot rolled again!

On Saturday night, the Powerball Lottery jackpot was worth $171 million to any single ticket holder who could match all the winning numbers and that all important red Powerball. Ticket sales were high, and the jackpot came in above estimate, yet no one matched all the winning numbers creating this bumper jackpot.

The Powerball Lottery jackpot has not been this high since early April, when one lucky player from Indiana scooped $221.7 million on a rollover draw. That lucky lottery player took the cash lump sum option and before taxes collected $111.7 million. If the $200 Powerball Lottery jackpot is won on Wednesday evening, the cash option on $200 million will be around $105 million; a very tidy sum for a winner!

Over the last four draws, no discernable trends can be made out in the lottery numbers, but if you’re looking for some hot numbers then 42, 49 and 50 have all been drawn twice from the last four draws, could each of them make another appearance, or are they the numbers to avoid when you buy lottery tickets for the draw?
