Plans for Global Lottery

Global Lottery National Lottery organisers Camelot have released plans for a global Lottery with a potential jackpot of £250 million. Revenue for charities and good causes raised by the lottery would be shared among all participating countries and Camelot have been discussing plans at length with 48 world lottery organisations. The hope is to create superdraws with many countries participating, making many millionaires for every draw.

Camelot were named as the preferred bidder for the global lottery recently and this is a huge boost for the company, the license would probably be granted next year with the Lottery launching in early 2009.

Camelot already run the UK National Lottery and also have a huge interest in the Europe-wide Euromillions Lottery.

This global lottery would of course surpass the Euromillions lottery and would potentially create some staggeringly huge jackpots.

Although other countries such as New Zealand have shown interest in taking part in the lottery, they have encountered issues with the fact that their top prize is set at $30 million by their government. The general opinion in New Zealand is that the global lottery could produce lots of £1 million winners each week instead of huge winners collecting hundreds of millions.

No doubt there will be some fierce discussions between the countries wishing to participate to find a format that everyone is happy with, yet news of a global lottery is surely fantastic allowing players from all the participating countries to play in one huge lottery draw.

It’s unlikely that draws for the global lottery would run weekly, the thought presently is on big holiday draws-such as Christmas- and monthly global draws creating hundreds of millionaires from around the world.

The thoughts of a global lottery are certainly an interesting concept and very exciting, watch this space for more news in the New Year!
