Pennsylvania family scoop Powerball Prize

Powerball A Lucky Pennsylvania gentleman who has won a massive $42 million lottery prize on the Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball will be sharing his good fortune with a dozen of his family members. Barrie Edwards of Lancaster County had a verbal agreement with his family that should one of them ever win a large jackpot they would share the prize with other family members.

The winning Powerball ticket was not purchased by Barrie Edwards, he received it free when he purchased two Pennsylvania Lottery Match 6 tickets for the August 2nd draw. Mr Edwards, his wife and 12 other family members were presented with a ceremonial check for $42,529,765.37 by Lottery executive Ed Lees this week as this lucky Pennsylvania family scoop this Powerball Prize.

The ticket matched the numbers 02-05-28-33-52 plus the red Powerball 30 to win the jackpot and has rolled over for 9 draws, it’s the 10th biggest prize ever awarded in this lottery.

The Pennsylvania family to scoop the lottery prize consist of the children of the winners plus several other family members giving them amounts varied between $17m and $1.4m. They weren’t the only winners however, the lottery good causes scheme gave more than $6 million to Pennsylvania’s older residents.

The Pennsylvania Powerball Lottery joined the game, which plays in 31 participating jurisdictions in June 2002 and to play Powerball, players pay $1 and select five numbers out of a possible 55 plus one single red ball from a second set of 42 numbers. Players must match all five plus the Powerball to win the jackpot plus 8 additional ways to win smaller cash prizes. It’s the only state lottery that designates all proceeds to programmes benefitting the states older residents. Since its introduction it has contributed more than $18 billion to these programmes.

The game is played state wide and like the American Mega Millions lottery players must be aged 18 or over.
