Opposition to Lottery Campus

A brand new Lottery headquarters for the California Lottery might be under threat after a government assemblyman opposed plans for the $185 million lottery headquarters. Opposition to the lottery campus has put a spanner in the works after the assemblyman questioned the use of such huge amounts of funds during this difficult economic downturn in the country and world.
Curt Hagman, who represents the Assembly district of Anaheim feels that the use of $185 to build a lottery headquarters for the California Lottery at a time when the state’s education system is feeling the effect of huge cutbacks is ill advised.

His complaint centres around the fact that schools in the area are laying off teachers and Mr Hagman feels that children in the classroom need more money than lottery officials need a new building.
It does seem a little like comparing apples with nuts though as clearly the new California Lottery building will not be using government money so building it isn’t actually putting any strain on the government, in fact quite the contrary, a large building like this will surely create jobs in the area, boosting the economy and eventually helping get the area back on track.
Whoever is right or wrong, or in fact if there are any right or wrongs the Lottery commission for the California Lottery in Sacramento are not to be put off and made a decision last week to move forward with the plans for the new campus and are now seeking a design for the building.
