One Ticket wins Mega Millions $212 million

It was the biggest Mega Millions jackpot for over a year and had reached astronomical proportions but now the excitement is over as one ticket wins the Mega Millions $212 million jackpot. The draw was held last night and everyone had been wondering just how big the jackpot could continue to get but there is no need to wonder any longer as one lucky ticket holder scoops the lot. There's no denying it's a huge amount of money but the lottery is renowned for giant jackpots.
A Mega Millions Lottery spokesman has confirmed that the one winning ticket for Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw was sold in Ocean County, New Jersey although further details of the winner have not yet been released.
The value of the $212 million ticket if taken as a lump sum is expected to be around $137 million after taxes have been paid, alternatively the winner can take the amount as an annuity over 26 years at $8.1 million a year before taxes.
Most American lottery players choose the first option, preferring the lump sum to do as they wish with.
The winning numbers in last night’s Mega Millions Lottery draw were 26, 32, 35, 43, 52 and the all important Mega Ball was 10. In addition to the single jackpot winner there were also lots of smaller division winners scooping various amounts from $250,000 downwards.
There’s no denying it’s a massive amount of cash but it doesn’t even come close to the record Mega Millions Lottery win. This was a jackpot of $390 million and was shared by two lucky players from New Jersey and Georgia on March 6th 2007.
The next Mega Millions Lottery will be held on Friday evening.
