Nation waits for Powerball Lottery winner to surface
16th March 2010 11:26 AM
On Saturday evening a massive $212 million Powerball Lottery jackpot was won by a single player in New Jersey but as the nation waits for the Powerball winner to surface, we take a look at what this may mean for the winner and bring you all the news from the draw. By Sunday morning we knew where the ticket was sold and brought you news of the big jackpot winner and the winning numbers but the winner still has not come forward, possibly taking some time to think about the major life change.
New Jersey only joined the Powerball Lottery in January, making it one of the many new Powerball Lottery states. As the lottery spreads throughout the states it is now in direct competition with the Mega Millions Lottery in the race to become the favourite US lottery draw.
The winning Powerball Lottery ticket from the draw held on March 13th was sold in a store in Morris County, New Jersey according to Powerball Lottery officials but until the winner comes forward that is all the details we have.
We can tell you that the jackpot is worth a massive $212 million if taken as a annualised amount of $102 million if taken as the usual cash option. That amount is also subject to taxes, something that will make a big dent in the jackpot.
You can check the winning numbers on our lottery numbers page and see if you were a lucky winner, after all for all we know they may not even be aware of their massive lottery win yet.
That just leaves us to say congratulations to the lucky winner and if you would like to buy tickets for the $20 million Powerball Lottery on Wednesday evening you can click the banner above to buy tickets.
