North Wales is celebrating today after hearing the news that Wrexham museum gets a lottery grant. The Wrexham Museum will now be able to open up even more of its collection to the public after receiving the grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund with £950,000. The museum houses around 6,000 artefacts but due to limits on space they can display just 2% of their total collection in the Grade II-listed building, this grant from the National Lottery will pay to redevelop the museum, opening more of its collection up to visitors.
The National Lottery grant will enable the museum to fit a glass extension, an education room and provide space for the Welsh football history collection. It is hoped that the new additions will encourage people to learn more about Wrexham’s social, industrial and archaeological roots.

The lottery grant for the museum will also fun the creation of a knowledge bank where the local community will be able to submit photographs and record their own personal and community history.
The museum is also planning to recruit another fifty volunteers to work at the museum, talk to visitors and give guided tours. This is down to the foresight that the changes to the museum will increase its visitors four-fold over the next few years.
This is just one of the many ways that your National Lottery contributions help local communities and projects and it’s great to know that when you purchase your National Lottery tickets, either at retailers or online you are not only giving yourself a chance to become an instant millionaire but you are also helping out lottery projects at the same time.
