Mega Millions Landed as Powerball Jackpot Rolls Over

Lottery games in recent days have created some massive winners, with the jackpot being landed in the Mega Millions game on Friday and the UK Lotto also delivering its top prize to two lucky players. The biggest prize of all rolled over in the Powerball game, setting the stage for a colossal $1.3 billion jackpot in the next draw, but there were over two dozen millionaires created even there, so it has been an incredibly exciting few days for lottery fans around the world. The results and details for the most popular games were as follow…

Mega Millions Landed as Powerball Jackpot Rolls Over

EuroJackpot

01 – 02 – 05 – 24 – 47 Euro Numbers: 03 and 08

EuroJackpot players on Friday were hoping to repeat the success of the German player who had landed the top prize in the previous game, but this week no ticket proved able to match all of the numbers drawn and so the €10 million jackpot rolled over. Two tickets won their owners an impressive second tier prize worth €514,927 each by matching all five main numbers plus one Euro Number, whilst another two entries won €181,739 each by matching the five main numbers only. More than 516,000 tickets won smaller prizes by matching fewer numbers, and there will now be a rollover jackpot worth around €14 million in the next game on Friday 15th January.

EuroMillions

05 – 26 – 33 – 35 – 40 Lucky Stars: 03 and 08

The latest EuroMillions draw offered a top prize of £46 million (€61 million) thanks to rollovers in each of the previous five drawings, and that sequence was extended to six last night. There were no winning tickets at the second tier prize level either, but six tickets won £286,182 (€382,841) each at the third tier by matching the five main numbers only. Another 54 tickets matched four of the main numbers as well as both lucky Star numbers to win £3,974 (€5,317) each at the fourth tier, and more than 2.69 million entries won smaller prizes across the lower tiers. The next game on Tuesday 12th January will now offer a jackpot worth an estimated £51 million (€69 million).

Mega Millions

11 – 39 – 51 – 57 – 75 Mega Ball: 02

Mega Millions players were pursuing a jackpot worth $165 million on Friday night, and as we said at the head of this news round-up, that prize was landed by a single ticket. We can confirm that the ticket in question had been purchased in New York, and we can also report that two tickets (which had been purchased in Maryland and Texas) won $1 million each by matching the five main numbers only. There were over 2.61 million consolation prizes won by tickets matching fewer numbers, and the next Mega Millions game on Tuesday will now offer a brand new jackpot worth $15 million.

Powerball

16 – 19 – 32 – 34 – 57 Powerball: 13

The jackpot in the latest Powerball game was worth an advertised $900 million, and although many people thought that it couldn’t possibly get any bigger, it has done exactly that. The jackpot rolled over to the next game on Wednesday 13 January, when it will be worth an estimated $1.3 billion. Expect plenty of news coverage about that in the days to come, but in the meantime celebrations are in order for the owners of more than 16 million tickets that won consolation prizes. The biggest of those prizes were at the second tier, where 25 tickets won $1 million each by matching all five main numbers without the Powerball. More than 2.08 million Power Play entries also won prizes, with three tickets winning $2 million each by matching five main numbers.

UK Lotto

26 – 27 – 46 – 47 – 52 – 58 Bonus Ball: 48

The UK Lotto jackpot broke the £50 million barrier in the midweek game last week, so it was guaranteed to pay out last night, either by being won in the usual manner or by rolling down to the highest prize tier that had winners. In the end, two tickets matched all six main numbers to share a jackpot with a final value of £66,070,646. There were five tickets that matched five of the main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to win £64,426 each, and more than 4.63 million prizes were won at the lower levels. There will now be a brand new jackpot of around £2.4 million for players to pursue in the next game on Wednesday.
