Luckiest UK lottery towns

Every year, the organisers of the UK National Lottery collate their statistics to give players some fun facts. Recently they have been working out with are the luckiest UK lottery towns; the towns where the most big winners come from. The map shows winners who have collected wins over £50,000 on the UK National Lottery and Euromillions Lottery and the statistics make quite interesting reading.

Now moving house to try and secure a lottery win may be taking things a little far. These Lotto stats really are just for fun but still they throw up some interesting figures. Newcastle Upon Tyne for example has been in the top ten for several years, but is this because the town is very lucky, or because players there buy a disproportionate amount of lottery tickets? Unfortunately the boffins at the National Lottery don’t run figures alongside each other so it’s hard to really get the full picture.

2. Birmingham
3. Newcastle upon Tyne
4. Glasgow
5. Manchester
6. Sheffield
7. Peterborough
8. Belfast
9. Liverpool
10. Cardiff

Cardiff is the only Welsh town to make it into the list, while Belfast squeezes in for Ireland. If you’re in Scotland then Glasgow might prove lucky, although it’s been Perth that has been lucky in previous draws.
