To win £7.5 million on the UK National Lottery is a dream come true for most but for one lady her dreams are more charitable. Jane Surtees had always dreamed of helping the countless starving children in Ethiopia and now after winning £7.5 million on the UK National Lottery this lotto winner shares her cash with orphans.
Ms Surtees scooped £7.5 million on the UK National Lottery five months ago and immediately after winning the jackpot she started planning her trip to the African country. She says that life is all about luck and because of luck she’ll never have to worry about money again, but these children have been plighted with bad luck, and orphaned by problems that are not of their own making.

Ms Surtees travelled to the capital Addis Ababa last week and headed straight for one of the biggest orphanages in the country, run by Maltese nuns for the past 40 years, the orphanage takes in needy children from the streets of Ethiopia and provides them with shelter, food and love. The orphanage is run purely on donations which means that essentials are scarce and treats are almost non-existent.
The lucky lottery winner immediately donated £50,000 of her UK National Lottery win and has pledged an annual commitment to the orphanage. This money will make a huge difference to the children and the conditions in which they are kept.
It’s a heart warming story and always fantastic to bring lottery news of this nature, it just goes to show that sometimes big televisions and foreign holidays aren’t the only things that we should be wishing for when we hope for that big lottery winner. Ms Surtees is without a doubt and inspirational lady and because of her generosity, the lives of many children will be improved.
