Lotto Max in the news again

It was just a couple of weeks ago that the Canada Lotto Max had a jackpot of almost $100 million up for grabs but now the Lotto Max is in the news again. The jackpot is heading back to the $50 million ceiling just two draws after the big rollover and that means interest is high in the draw yet again. The popular, Friday night Canadian Lottery has a $50 ceiling and a unique prize structure and it’s this that causes these bumper jackpots on top of each other.
The situation is unprecedented so we guess no one really knew what was going to happen. The Canada Lotto Max was only launched in the Autumn of 2009 and it had never got as high as it got a fortnight ago. However as the jackpot is capped at $50 million, the $95 million jackpot had 45 Maxmillions draws, that’s 45 individual draws, each with a million dollar prize, on top of the standard $50 million Canada Lotto Max draw.
While the main jackpot was shared by two winners, many of the Maxmillions jackpots went unclaimed and that meant the base $20 million jackpot was $13 million higher than usual, a single week without a winner and it’s up to an estimated $43 million, putting the draw straight back in the lottery news.
If this week doesn’t see a winner in the Canada Lotto Max then we’re sure to see yet another Maxmillions occasion just next week and of course, that again could see many $1 million jackpots rollover, even if the main jackpot is won.
It’s little wonder that the Canada Lotto Max is one of our favourite world lottery draws and we’ll certainly now be keeping an eye on this jackpot until it’s won. The next Canada Lotto Max draw is on Friday evening, good luck all those with tickets!
