If you won the National Lottery or any huge lottery prize for that matter how do you think you would react? Personally I would be bouncing around like Tigger but one lucky winner in Canada won 3.6 million dollars on the Lotto 6/49 game back in August last year and has literally just claimed his winnings three weeks shy of the 1 year claim deadline!
It wasn’t even that this lucky winner wasn’t aware he had won or that he had misplaced this ticket, he merely needed to time to gather his thoughts. Peter Dushop, a 24 year old estate agent from Maple Ridge, Canada had this to say about the win “I just needed to take some time to think about how this win would affect my family and the people around me. I am still in a state of shock.”
According to a local bank official Mr Dushop has already lost out on interest amounting to over 100,000 dollars by not claiming his win sooner. The winning ticket for Lotto 6/49 held by Mr Dushop has spent the last 11 months sitting in a safety deposit box whilst this lucky winner took his time pondering on how his life would change.
Mr Dushop however is not worried about the loss of interest after his win on Lotto 6/49 and plans on taking a holiday “somewhere hot” with his winnings.
There is absolutely no way that I could sit on a lottery ticket worth 3.6 million dollars for 11 months, it would be spend, spend, spend for me. Having said that, good on this young man for having a sensible head on his shoulders.
