Lottery Winners in the Gutter

When life is grand it’s easy to forget the little people, your roots and where you came from, but not these two millionaires when these lottery winners were in the gutter this week volunteering to help clean up a stretch of the Trans Pennine Trail near a Sheffield council estate for a community based charity project.
The volunteers were part of an environment based charity, Green City Action who contacted the winners among others to get these lottery winners in the gutter to help clean up this stretch of land.

Organisers were amazed that two lottery winners agreed to take time out from their life of luxury to participate in the project and help with this cleanup project. The volunteers included John and Alex Dyer from Knaresborough who won almost £6 million in the UK National Lottery in December 2003 and Peter and Sue Brusby from Driffield who won a share of £18 million in the lottery in July 2005.
The lottery winners joined others who spent a full day at Tongue Gutter in Parsons Cross, Sheffield clearing the area which had become overgrown and unattractive. They cleared rubbish, indtalled new benches and threw some painting and brightening up too.
Also helping the charity is Susan Crossland or Mirfield West Yorkshire and her husband Michael who won £1.2 million on the UK National Lottery in July last year and Karen Child from Clowne near Chesterfield who won £8.5 million in February 2007. Kevin and Viv Moss from Daventry, Northants who won £6 million in October last year have also lent a helping hand.
The charity are delighted that so many lottery winners are helping their organisation and it really brings true the saying that charity begins at home.
