Lottery Winner Fights for Prize

Canada Lotto A Lottery winner from Windsor, Ontario is still waiting to be issued with his $100,000 lottery prize won back on September 6th 2008. Christopher Longden was elated to learn he had won the $100,000 playing Encore, part of Canada’s Super 7 lottery but due to not remembering the date and time he bought the ticket this Lottery winner is fighting for his prize.

The lucky or maybe unlucky winner purchased his ticket at his neighbourhood 7-11 store but even after an investigator got video evidence of him purchasing the ticket Mr Longden still hasn’t received his winnings.

The 54 year old contractor is now considering legal action over the farce after saying the Ontario Gaming Commission has taken what should have been one of the happiest days of his life and made him feel like a thief. The problem has been further aggravated by the fact that his daughter Eryn worked at the 7-eleven store until December last year, despite the fact that his daughter has now moved to England and has not lived in Canada for around nine months.

A spokesman for the Ontario Gaming Commission that runs the Super 7 Lotto plus Canada’s Lotto 6/49 said that any win over $10,000 needs to be verified, including a personal interview where the winner must state when and where the winning player purchased their ticket. They say that the process isn’t there to make legitimate winners feel bad but more to protect genuine winners from unscrupulous incidents that have happened in the past.

Understandably Mr Longden is angry about the hold up with his winning ticket and hopefully the issue will be resolved soon, the whole issue however isn’t the best publicity for the popular Canada Lottery but maybe a lesson to others to pay close attention to when and where they purchase their lottery tickets.
