Lottery winner dies penniless

You’d think that winning £9 million on the lottery would be the end of all your troubles. Keith and Louise Gough thought the same when they scooped £9 million in the UK National Lottery back in 2005. After declaring that all their money troubles were over, it turned out that they were just beginning as excess, boredom and what would seem like more money than they knew what to do with took hold. The lottery winner died penniless this week, here’s how the story panned out.
After their win in 2005 the Gough’s quit their jobs and splashed out on the high-life. Racehorses, top of the range cars and an executive box at their favourite football club soon followed and then, the boredom from quitting his job and the lack of routine started Mr Gough drinking heavily. The UK National Lottery winners dream appeared to be over.

A stint in rehab followed, where the unlucky UK National Lottery winner was duped out of the little remaining amount of his lottery win. A conman walked away with his last £700,000 in a case reported by World Lottery last year leaving the lottery winner penniless.
Shortly afterwards he was quoted as saying he rued the day his wife had bought the lucky dip ticket for the UK National Lottery. They had been happy, although not rich and had been in a long, loving marriage. Suddenly he was a rich alcoholic, alone after his wife had left him, life started spiralling out of control.
Now Mr Gough is dead at 58 after suffering a heart attack brought on by heavy drinking and money worries after blowing his £9 million fortune in just five years. A lesson in what not to do if your lucky numbers come up this weekend!
