Lottery Win no Guarantee of Happiness

We all spend time pondering on how that big lottery win would change our lives, how we’d be happier with more money and what a huge difference the money would make to our standard of living. Well ask Lottery winner Rhoda Toth who has just been sentenced to two years in a federal prison and she’ll confirm that a Lottery win is no guarantee of happiness.
Mrs Toth and her husband Alex won $13 million in the Florida Lotto in 1990 and filed false tax returns over several years landing her in hot water with the government. When investigated in 2006 Mr and Mrs Toth had no assets and were thought to have squandered away their lottery win through gambling and the high life.
Mrs Toth’s husband has now passed away and the lady herself is in ill health, she must repay the Internal Revenue Service $1.1 million a judge has ruled in addition to a two year sentence in a federal prison proving that even a lottery win is no guarantee of happiness.
This case is a perfect example of how money doesn’t buy you happiness, nor can it replace the common sense that is needed to invest at least a little when you’re lucky enough to win $13 million. It’s hard to believe two people can squander away $13 million in such a short time, you’d think with a win like that you’d be set for life.
The Florida Lottery is Florida’s state lottery, it plays twice weekly and to win you must match six numbers between 1 and 53 to the numbers drawn. Tickets start at $1 or you can purchase Lotto plus tickets $2/$3 for a chance to win an even bigger jackpot.
