Lottery Scam Perpetrators Charged

Lottery Scam We often bring you news of Lottery scams and how you can avoid them but all too often the perpetrators of these crimes avoid any punishment so it was good news today to hear that twelve lottery scam perpetrators are charged in the US for running a telemarketing lottery fraud that may have cost US residents as much as $25 million in fraudulent lottery activity.

The defendants are accused of calling victims in the United States and falsely declaring that they had won an international lottery – a scam we are often warning world lottery players about – these charges are being put forward by the US District court in Manhattan.

As with most lottery scams victims were being told that they would need to pay thousands of dollars in fees and taxes before they could claim there prizes, but of course as with all lottery scams there was no lottery and the victims never received any cash prizes even after sending money the defendants in Israel.

The twelve lottery scam perpetrators have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud through telemarketing and as is consistent with lottery scams several were also charged with mail fraud and wire fraud. This is one bit of lottery news we are glad to be bringing you.

As with all lottery scams the warnings still stand. If something looks too good to be true then it probably is and you cannot possibly win a prize in a lottery that you haven’t played in.
