Lottery sales up in recession

Figures released from the US show that sales on many of their lottery draws have increased over the last year. It’s no surprise that lottery sales are up in the recession, it’s a recognised trend but US Lotteries such as the Powerball Lottery and Mega Millions Lottery have had such an increase in sales this year, they are reporting a £1 billion hike! Of course, there’s the adding of the sales from more states joining both the major lottery draws but even with that taken into consideration, a £1 billion hike is a lotto cash!
It seems that when the chips are down, our ability to dream increases. When the whole country seems to be struggling it can be easy not to see a way out, a lottery win can solve everything.
Of course we don’t recommend pinning your hopes on lottery dreams, but with lottery tickets often not rising in cost year on year, playing lottery draws such as the Mega Millions and Powerball Lottery are a cheap form of entertainment.
Of course, some states are bucking the trend. While for the Florida Lottery, sales are booming, smaller lotteries such as the West Virginia Lottery have seen a fall in sales this year.
We predict ticket sales to continue to rise, especially as the big US lottery draws roll out some of the biggest lottery jackpots in the world. This attracts the attention of the world audience, making both the Powerball Lottery and Mega Millions Lottery two favourite lottery draws for world lottery syndicates.
