The California Lottery Commission is expected to issue a request for the construction of a brand new lottery building. It is expected that as the lottery looks for new headquarters they are seeking to build an energy efficient large building as to renovate their current headquarters would cost in excess of $40 million.
The new headquarters for the California Lottery would be on Richards Boulevard in downtown Sacramento and the proposal is expected to be issued by the end of the month, said a lottery official last Friday.

The building would be a new energy efficient large headquarters, approx 148,000 square feet, though lottery officials are also hoping to build two office buildings totalling 331,000 square feet with a six-story parking building offer over 1,300 parking spaces.
It is hoped that the building would be in place by Spring 2011 although the model and design have not yet been decided. The California Lottery Commission is currently looking for designs and says they will be evaluated on best value, including energy and running costs rather than a best price for the initial building.
The current California Lottery headquarters has been in use since the mid 1980’s and being such an aging building it is said that it is not cost efficient to renovate after being quoted at around $40 million.
It would mean an exciting time for the lottery and proposals for the new building will be underway soon.
