Have you ever been into a store and asked for something, just to find the cashier isn’t really listening and gives you the wrong thing? Well what do you do if that is a lottery ticket? A lottery jackpot won on the wrong ticket shows the hand that fate can play when falling upon some good luck. Rob Anderson asked for three separate lottery tickets so he could give them as Christmas gifts but the shop working printed all the numbers on one ticket.
That means that Mr Anderson had to buy an extra three separate lottery tickets as gifts but kept the extra tickets for himself. One of those lottery tickets was worth a massive $80 million after scooping the first prize on the Kentucky Lottery.
The record lottery prize worth over $120 million was worth $80 million after taxes, making Mr Anderson, no doubt very pleased he had decided to give lottery tickets as Christmas gifts.
The father of two had decided that lottery tickets would make an original Christmas gift so stopped off at the local petrol station to buy tickets as stocking fillers. Asking for $3 tickets, the clerk run off a $3 Quick Pick ticket and when he realised his mistake asked the customer if he would like the ticket voided.
Mr Anderson decided to keep the ticket and threw it on a dresser in his bedroom, completely forgetting about it until after the draw.
None of the lottery tickets Mr Anderson boughts as gifts were winners but the botched ticket, bought by accident was worth a massive $120 million on the Kentucky Lottery.
It’s a great story to go into the New Year and a fantastic bit of luck for this world lottery player.
