The National Lottery is well known for its Big Lottery fund, helping good causes and charities from all over the UK. This time it’s the turn of the elderly and disabled as the Lottery good causes fund helps an Anglesey charity.
The charity named Fforwm Anabledd taran Cyf, based in Mona, Anglesey have been awarded almost £150,000 by the Big Lottery fund’s people and places programme, intended to bring people together and make communities stronger.
The benefits of the Lottery Good Causes help to this Anglesey charity will be priceless. It will enable disabled, elderly and isolated people living in Anglesey to develop their confidence for voluntary and paid employment, further education and learn important life skills they would not otherwise have the chance to work on.
All the monies will go to run the proposed Reachout project helping people with disabilities to overcome barriers and help to change attitudes towards people with disabilities working in paid employment and within their own community.
This is exactly the intention of the Big Lottery fund, to make a difference to the lives of communities across the UK and this time it’s communities in North Wales who will benefit. It is hoped that the project will have a positive impact on the lives of these people now and will continue to do so for years to come.
The people and places fund which is part of the National Lotteries good causes organisation awards grants of between £5,000 and £1 million for community projects across the UK.
It’s a great cause and it should give you a nice warm feeling when handing over cash for your next National Lottery ticket.
