Lottery fever in Canada

Right now there’s lottery fever in Canada after several rollovers have pushed the Canada Lotto 6/49 jackpot up to $20 million! It’s been a couple of weeks now since the lottery saw a winner, despite high ticket sales for the $12.5 million midweek jackpot and that means that this weekend’s jackpot could be as high as $20 million, which is the estimated jackpot total for Saturday night's draw.
It’s well known that there are many syndicates in Canada who play the Canada Lotto 6/49 only when there are big rollovers, it explains why so many big jackpots are shared between lottery syndicates and it could mean that this Saturday’s jackpot gets even higher.
The lottery numbers in Wednesdays Canada Lotto 6/49 were 13 – 17 – 25 – 40 – 45 – 47. Bonus ball 42. Yet despite high ticket sales for the draw, worth $12.5 million, no winning tickets matched all six from 49 numbers, three lucky players matched five main balls and the bonus ball and each of those walked away with $108,778 but none of them could get that magic sixth number to win the jackpot.
As big a jackpot as $20 million is, it doesn’t even get into the top ten of lotto jackpots for the lottery. The record jackpot for Canada is $54 million, quite a bit higher than the $20 million on offer this weekend and even the tenth biggest Lotto 6/49 jackpot is almost $40 million. This one certainly has a way to go to hit that amount.
