Lottery Clerks Caught out

Minnesota Lottery An investigation by undercover investigators has seen five lottery clerks caught out after they were caught attempting to cash in winning lottery tickets for themselves. The investigators from the Minnesota State Lottery set up the fraud operation to test whether employees at Lottery retailers were lying to players about the value of their big winning tickets to dishonestly redeem the winning tickets to keep the money for themselves.

Out of 186 stores visited during the investigation just five retailers failed the test in December and January but of course a zero result would have been better.

During the investigation an undercover agent would bring in a decoy ticket that showed a large win. The agent would ask the clerk to check the ticket to test if they were trustworthy. Of all the stores targeted, just five failed the test and those operators will now be charged with fraud.

It always pays to check your lottery tickets yourself, no matter what lottery you are playing from around the world. If you check the winning numbers and have some idea of what you have won then you can always ask the clerk to verify your winnings before presenting your ticket to lottery officials.

A better idea would be to play the lottery online, this is one of the safest and most convenient ways to play the lottery and they’ll even check your tickets for you and let you know if you are a winner. Your tickets are held safe online and there is no worries about either losing your ticket or you checking them incorrectly.
