The Lottery boost for Dreamland, from the UK National Lottery Heritage Fund will allow the team behind Dreamland start a recruitment drive for the key people who will make the dream a reality. Dreamland is a non profit making company and has been given £384,500 of lottery funding which will allow it to take on three people to work on the detailed proposals.

Phase one of the project is worth £12.4 million and will create the world’s first amusement park solely featuring thrilling historic rides. It will be centred on the Grade II listed scenic railway rollercoaster, the oldest in Britain at 89 years old.

The second phase will then involve the restoration of the Grade II listed Dreamland Cinema building as a multi-purpose entertainment venue creating a national centre for seaside heritage, popular culture and street style.

The lottery funding will allow the trust to recruit a core team to make this exciting concept a reality. Heading the team will be the project manager who will become the public face of Dreamland driving the project forward through each phase.

It’s an exciting use of lottery money for a very interesting project and we are world lottery will be following their progress closely to see how they get on.
