Late Christmas treat from Oz Lotto

share

Australian LotteryOne couple has just received a late Christmas treat from the Oz Lotto in the form of an unclaimed prize on a lost ticket from Boxing Day worth a staggering $400,000.  We’re often bringing you stories of unclaimed lottery prizes but this one for the Australian Lottery points out how easy it is to lose track of things over a busy time like Christmas. However, despite the lost ticket, thankfully it’s now been found giving this story a very happy ending.

The couple, from Wellington has chosen to remain anonymous after their win but they did confirm that they have been keen Australian Lottery players since the launch of the Oz Lotto in 1987.

The couple had found old lottery ticket amid a pile of papers, from Boxing Day, but being an old ticket, they had no idea if it was an actual winner. Currently the Australian Lottery are running a special promotion and while heading to buy tickets for that promotion the couple decided to take along the old lottery ticket and get it checked.

They put the ticket through the scanner in the store, but strangely although confirming the lottery ticket was a winner, it didn’t tell the gentleman how much he had won. The winner handed the ticket over to an operator who confirmed that he was indeed a big Oz Lotto winner, scooping over $400,000.

As one half of the couple had become redundant last year, this lottery win really couldn’t have come at a better time for either of them and we’d like to say congratulations and we hope the lucky couple enjoy their spending.

Do remember to check those lottery tickets! Treat them as cash until you can confirm whether they are a winner, it really is so important.
