Keep your Lotto Tickets Safe

National Lottery Tickets Do you find once you’ve put on your lottery tickets they get shoved in your pocket with all your change, junk and receipts in the haste to get out of the supermarket queue? It’s so easy to do, then forget where they are and end up throwing them away with the rubbish that we seem to accumulate in our wallets and purses every day. Well keep your lotto tickets safe because one couple from Baltimore did just that and ended up throwing their winning lotto ticket out with the rubbish!

The un-named couple from Baltimore had bought a ticket for the Mega Millions draw and the day after the draw the wife threw the ticket out with the rubbish, not realising it was a winning ticket. Unbeknown to her the ticket was actually worth $250,000! Realising the lottery ticket hadn’t been checked, the husband retrieved the Mega Millions ticket from the rubbish bin, checked the numbers and found it was worth a quarter of a million.

The moment the gentleman looked at the ticket he realised it was a winner, then after carefully checking the numbers was pleased to tell his wife that the ticket, destined to be sent to the rubbish tip was actually worth a huge amount of money. It was a close call and a good lesson to everyone to keep your lotto tickets safe.

The couple originally from Korea, were clearly fated to be lucky as the husband had previously won a $50,000 prize on the Bonus match 5 lottery, but this winning Mega Millions ticket really takes the biscuit, especially as it originally ended up in the rubbish bin.

Now I know most weeks we check our tickets in hope and then they end up in the bin, but please lottery players from around the world. Do remember to check the ticket BEFORE you send it to the trash and not after!
