Italians get Hot-Headed over Superenalotto

You’d think that choosing six little numbers wouldn’t be that hard but the Italian Lottery, the Superenalotto hasn’t been won since April 2008 and now stands at a €95 million creating mayhem across the country. Italians are said to be using their life savings to buy lotto tickets and risking their homes and livelihoods in the process but as the Italians get hot-headed over the Superenalotto a consumer group is attempting to seize the prize to ‘protect the collective interest’

The consumer group, Codacons say that the jackpot has simply got too high and is creating an atmosphere of unhealthy gambling in Italy as people risk more than they can afford for a chance to be the winner of this staggering Superenalotto jackpot.

It’s the highest jackpot ever seen for Italy’s Superenalatto Lottery and players across the country are already planning what they would do with this record win. Codacons say that the jackpot is too large and should be split between lower level winners after no winning tickets in Tuesdays draw caused the jackpot to grow yet higher.

The Superenalotto is Italy’s National Lottery and to win you must match six numbers from a possible ninety, making the lottery much harder to win than other lotteries from around the world. It is said that the odds of winning the Superenalotto is one in 600 million.

Draws for the Superenalotto are held three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays so tonight’s draw will see the staggering €95 million jackpot up for grabs. Smaller prizes include a five plus the bonus ball win, plus five, four and three correct numbers also pay a prize.
