Israel Lottery sees repeat number fluke

Lottery DrawsThe lottery world is up in arms this week as the Israel Lottery sees a repeat number fluke. At odds of over four trillion to one, two lottery draws pulled exactly the same six lottery balls in the same lottery. Plus, not only were the same numbers drawn twice, but they appeared the second time in exact reverse order to the first draw. Many Israeli Lottery players have been calling for an inquiry but the Israel National Lottery say the lottery draw was above board and it was just a coincidence.

On 21st September 2010, for draw number 2187 of the Israel National Lottery the numbers 13 – 14 – 26 – 32 – 33 – 36 were drawn. Then on lottery draw 2194, on 16th October, exactly the same numbers were drawn again. In fact, the only difference was the ‘bonus’ ball, called the Chazak (strong) number in Israel.

This has only ever happened once in a lottery draw, anywhere in the world, when the Bulgarian Lottery drew the same two numbers, two draws running. This led to a flood of calls to the lottery offices and an enquiry. However, Israeli Lottery officials say the draw was checked several times and it was sheer chance that it happened this way.

Anyone who plays the same numbers every week and benefitted from the first jackpot will be very pleased, no doubt but not everyone will be pleased. Number crunchers have confirmed that the same numbers are as likely to be drawn than separate numbers, after all it’s a game of chance!

Odds of four trillion and it happened, and we worry about the odds of winning the lottery! With world lottery draws, anything can happen.
